Let's Keep the Conversation Going

Mental Health Week is a vital moment in the calendar. It gives us a national platform to raise awareness, share support, and encourage conversations that might otherwise be left unsaid. But if there's one thing we've learnt at We Are Hummingbird, it's this:
Mental health isn't just for awareness weeks. It's for every week. Every day. Every conversation.
We know how powerful these annual campaigns can be, they shine a light on issues that too often stay in the shadows. But we also know that people don't only struggle in May. The real challenge is keeping that light on when the headlines fade.
At We Are Hummingbird, we are a community of music lovers who use music as a platform to open up the conversation around mental health. We're not professionals and we'll never pretend to be. We're a group of people brought together by heartbreak, driven by purpose, and united in our mission to make sure no one else feels alone in their darkest moments.
Our journey started with the loss of a close friend to suicide. It left us asking, "What could we have done?" That question sparked We Are Hummingbird. If we could help just one person open up, take a breath, or reach out for help, then our goal would be met. But our mission would still go on because there are always more people to reach.
And that's why we need to talk about mental health all year long.
We've made mistakes along the way. We're still learning. But through music, community, and honesty, we've built something that feels real. We are you. You are us. And together, We Are Hummingbird. So as Mental Health Awareness Week comes and goes, let's promise each other this: We'll keep talking. We'll keep sharing. We'll keep showing up. Whether it's a conversation over coffee, a late-night message to a friend, or sharing a playlist that says what you can't, these small actions can make a big difference.
And if you're reading this and struggling, please know there is help. You are not alone. Here are some places you can turn to:
